Hello Dave! Remarkable that you share your name with a pine -- we had never heard of that species! You have us beginning to wonder what marvelous brews might be made with conifers from around the country.
Also, we're excited to explore your blog! We had seen you at the festival of the trees, but hadn't yet gone through all the articles. It looks like a great line-up =)

Thanks Dave! There are so many edibles to try out there, aren't there? We're making an effort this summer to try to taste every wild edible we can find -- it should be a fun adventure. Let us know what you think of white pine when you give it a try!

Great post! I've only ever had spruce and fir tea, never white pine - despite the fact that we have plenty of it and Euell Gibbons touted its health benefits. I'll have to go experiment.

We were thinking the same thing as we read your post on the Lake Tahoe trees! We haven't tried cedar -- they grow just a bit north of us, so we'll have to gather a bit the next time we're up there. It would probably be an interesting tea! If you do try yours, let us know how it is!

What a fun idea. Unfortunately, we only have two conifers here in Missouri - shortleaf pine and eastern red-cedar. Maybe I'll try a head-to-head between those two.

I'm kinda wishing I'd seen this before I went to Lake Tahoe with its eleven conifers - I could have had a heck of a tasting party!

Hello Carl! Great to hear from you =) Thanks so much for visiting -- it would be interesting to see what the different evergreens up in northern Minnesota taste like when brewed into tea!

Indeed, we should have gotten a picture of Rebecca swirling the tea in her cup as she delicately sniffed in order test each tea for aroma. It was pretty funny. =)
