Oh Bird, we wish we could send you some flowers. They're quite ephemeral, and don't last long even on the tree. We're sure you also have some amazing wild edibles over there that we'll never get to taste -- unless, well, who knows? Perhaps on a visit across the sea someday?

Here's a delicacy that we don't get in the UK, and now your lovely sensual description has left me envious that I can't try it for myself!

Hello Jackie!

Isn't their fragrance incredible? We have a few trees down the road, and can smell them a hundred yards away. Amazing that you have so many of them! Apologies for letting you know about how yummy they are just a little too late, but you'll have a real treat to look forward to next year. Some people put them in salads or find other creative uses, but we just can't bear to do anything but enjoy them one delectable blossom at a time.

I am SO glad to know that black locust blossoms are good to eat! But why not? They're just overgrown peas. Ours in Saratoga are fading now, but next year I'll be sure to try them. They surround my house, filling the air with their fragrance when in bloom and abuzz with bees.
